The Occasions Mini Catalog is Here!

Stampin' Up! has done it again. The new Occasions mini catalog is packed full of amazing products, stamp sets, and ideas! Click on the catalog cover on the left to see it for yourself.

As a demonstrator, I am able to pre-order items in the mini catalogs about a month early. It is so hard to play with new toys and not share! I am sooooo excited to finally be able to share one of my favorite new items: a Big Shot XL die called Matchbox. With it, you can create the cutest little boxes:

Stamps: Matchbox Messages
Paper: Whisper White, Parisian Breeze Speciality Paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Big Shot, Extended Cutting Pads, Matchbox Bigz XL die, 12 x 12 paper cutter, pen, ruler, Baja Breeze Double Stitched Ribbon, Dimensionals, 1 1/4 circle punch

When you make these boxes, you soon realize that the die is longer than 12". How do I conserve paper? I got a great idea from a fellow demonstrator's blog. She created a template using the cardboard backer for the Designer Series paper. Measure from the left side 5 1/2 inches. Draw line to the middle. Turn 90 degrees. Measure again at 5 1/2 inches. Draw a line to the middle. Repeat on last two sides. This creates a template like this:

Use  a hobby knife to cut out the center square that results from those lines. Trace this square on the center of the Designer Series Paper. Next, use your paper cutter to cut along the left side of the square to the edge. Turn 90 degrees and cut again from the left side to the top edge. Repeat two more times.

You get four sheets of paper that are like this (and a square):
Now, you can place these on the die to cover the entire thing!

After you run it through the Big Shot, you get the top, the bottom (the large goofy-looking part) and three cool curly labels.

To fold the box, follow the instructions on the back of the paper that goes with the die. The pictures are easy to follow. Oh yeah, this box doesn't use any glue!

Happy Stamping!
