Angelic Joy

Formal, religious cards aren't really my style, but I was asked to design a religious card for the last Christmas Club meeting this Friday. What to do, what to do? First, I needed a stamp set, so I borrowed this one from my sister--who hadn't even inked it up yet! I guess that's what happens when you have an infant. Oh well, I found the time to create this:

Stamps: Angelic Joy
Paper: Baja Breeze, Sahara Sand
Ink: Versamark,
Accessories: Silver Embossing Powder, Big Shot, Top Note Die, Waffle Paper, Silver Smooch, Powder Pal, Heat Tool

I hope they like it!

Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke

Elf Hat Boxes

As the holidays approach, I love thinking up new ways to package little gifts for those I give small items to around Christmas. Those that attended my November Workshops got to make this:

Stamps: Tags Til Christmas
Paper: Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red and Wild Wasabi Markers
Accessories: Tasteful Trim Bigz Die, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Two Way Glue, Crop-a-dile, Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon.

All I do to create the box is score in the middle of my paper. This was a half of a sheet of cardstock--4 1/4" by 11". Then, I find the middle of each end--2 1/8 and score from the middle to each midpoint on the side. Easy! Ok, for you visual folks, here's a template:

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving, as I have said before, is my favorite holiday. Years of memories of warm family moments, great food, and lots of stories fill me up. Thanksgiving is a bit calmer than when I was a kid--Bubba, the guys, my parents, my sister, her husband, my nephews, and this year my neice. Additions are always welcome, and I know that my sister's sister in-law and brother-in-law will be there. However, it just doesn't compare to the 40 plus people my grandma Elsie prepared for or the 20 plus my grandma Alden hosted on the farm. In honor of the  holiday, I am posting this card:

Stamps: Day of Gratitude
Paper: Autumn Spice Designer Series Paper, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Naturals Ivory, Old Olive
Ink: Early Espresso, More Mustard, Cajun Craze
Accessories: Chantilly Lace, Modern Label Punch, Ribbon Punch

I love every page of the Autumn Spice Paper and this card is quite the way to use all of the paper I want!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Grateful Gift Bags

Packaging is often neglected by my husband. Why buy a gift bag or wrapping paper when a plastic bag gets the job done? Well, I've decided to build a stash of gift bags that I can use when needed.

Stamps: Day of Gratitude
Paper: Autumn Traditions, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Old Olive
Ink: Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Old Olive
Accessories: Clear Blocks, Paper Cutter, Sticky Strip

I used my scraps and made an extra something for my November Workshops and classes. just a bit of extra fun!

Joy to the World

On a Card! This stamp image demanded to be used as a focal point on a card. I went to my favorite tool--the Big Shot, and came up with this:

Stamps: Welcome Christmas
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red and Wild Wasabi Markers
Accessories: Big Shot, Two Tags die, 1 1/4 Real Red Striped Ribbon, Hemp Twine, Deck the Halls Buttons, Scallop Circle Punch, Vintage Wallpaper Die

I used my markers to color the stamp, stamped my image, and then had to figure out what else to add. I wanted it to be a little different, so I added the half scallop and the button. The ribbon was a great addition. I just love that stuff!

Faux Mother of Pearl

When I saw this technique on a swap card I received, I knew I had to try it! Figuring it out was a bit tricky. After a night of experimentation, I have found the way to do this I love the most! Read on.

Stamps: Welcome Christmas, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke, Glossy White Cardstock
Ink: Basic Black or Stazon, River Rock
Accessories: 2 1/2" Circle Punch, Deck the Halls Big Designer Buttons, Deck the Halls Designer Series Fabric, Chantilly Lace, Modern Label Punch, plastic bag, Frost White Shimmer Paint, Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Sticky Strip, Brayer

To do the Faux Mother of Pearl, use a crumpled up plastic bag to daub some of the white shimmer paint on your cardstock. Allow to dry. Use a brayer to apply River Rock Ink over the entire thing. Wipe with tissue to reveal mother of pearl look. You can also use light blues or pinks.

The fabric ruffle was just something I wanted to add since the circle needed a little more. I ripped strips of my Designer Series Fabric, then I added sticky strip around my circle, in a hexagon. I pleated the fabric and wound it around:

To secure it shut, I added a bit more sticky strip. (sorry for the blurry photo).

See, it's not hard to make an elegant card!

A Naughty Gift Card

Well, not that way ;) Gift Card holders are very popular, so why not  make your own? I love making these and found one online, just when I needed a new idea! Now, if I could find where I found the idea! If anyone knows, let me know so I can give the original designer credit.

Stamps: Tags til Christmas
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Whisper White, Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper
Ink: Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Double Scallop Ribbon Punch, Square Scallop Punch, Rhinestones, Early Espresso 1/8" ribbon, Crop-a-dile

This is just a wrapper around a paper that you can attach a gift card to. Then, the recipient pulls the ribbon to reveal the card! Very cute, and no envelope needed!

Stamps: Day of Gratitude
Paper: Whisper White, More Mustard, Garden Green, Elegant Eggplant
Ink: More Mustard, Garden Green, Elegant Eggplant
Accessories: Bird Punch, Large Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/4 Circle Punch, Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Sponge Daubers

Scraps of Fun

I've been trying to use up scraps lately- ribbon, paper, and especially, Deck the Halls Designer Series Fabric. I don't want any little bit of it to go to waste! Here is what I made the night:

Stamps: None
Paper: Cherry Cobbler
Ink: None
Accessories: Deck the Halls Designer Series Fabric, Tasteful Trim Die, Fancy Flower Die, Big Shot, Buttons, Crystal Effects

As folks have looked at this at my latest vendor fairs, they ask if I sewed them together. Don't tell my mom, but no way! I just used a dab of Crystal Effects here and there!

Old Fashioned Christmas

Family. Tree. Traditions. This is my idea of Christmas. I love dark colors, berries, and all things homemade. The stamp set Welcome Christmas seemed perfect for a traditional card. Then, I realized that the Deck the Halls Fabric would go perfectly with my image, especially if I used my new die!

Stamps: Welcome Christmas, Sincere Saluations
Paper: Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler
Ink: Always Artichoke
Accessories: Big Shot, Tasteful Trim Bigz die, Decorative Label Punch, Wide Oval Punch, Dimensionals

Check out that bow. I am pretty proud of it-- I tied it the first time I tried. So super cool.
The sketch came from the Mojo Monday Sketch Blog--always amazing sketches posted each Monday.
