Stampin' Addicts Birthday Blog Hop Recap, Recipes, and How to's

Wasn't that a great blog hop? Awesome. Here is the low-down about each project.

Chalkboard Technique

Supplies: pastels, sponge dauber, white craft ink, dark cardstock
1. Stamp images in Whisper White Craft Ink on dark cardstock.
2. Use sponge daubers to add pastel color to ink.

Butterfly Card

Stamps: Flight of the Butterfly
Paper: Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Basic Gray
Ink: Whisper White
Accessories: Sponge Daubers, Pastels, Pear Parfait 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Crop-a-dile.

I have two notes for this card. First, I wound the ribbon through two holes made by the small setting on my Crop-a-dile. That little butterfly was in my way, and I liked the way it looked. Second, I the little flowers are actually a butterfly image, I just stamped on the edge, and very carefully placed it so the little flowers looked like a flower garden.

Flower Friend Card

Stamps: With All My Heart
Paper: Concord Crush, Pear Parfait, Baja Breeze
Ink: Whisper White
Accessories: Fancy Flower XL punch, Framed Tulips Embossing Folder, Subtles Brads, Paper Piercing Tool and Matte, Paper Snips, Dimensonals, Sponge Daubers, Pastels

To make the tag, I stamped my image, cut out a strip and then ran that over my bone folder until it was distressed. I then added the brads, cut one end in a V, and adhered it with dimensionals so it had a curve.  Also, it doesn't have Happy Birthday on it, because I was reminded by a colleauge the other day that birthdays may not want to be celebrated as loudly when one gets older. I had yelled down the hall Happy Birthday Wishes and got reprimanded by my hallmate. Opps. This card would probably be a better choice than yelling down the hall.

Nature's Walk

Stamps: Nature's Walk
Paper: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper
Ink: Whisper White, Early Espresso
Accessories: Vintage Trinkets, Vintage Brads, Paper Piercing Tool, Matte, Decorative Label Punch, Very Vanilla Seam Binding, Spiral Border Punch, Paper Snips.

I adhered the ribbon with SNAIL---a dab here, a dab there. I used my paper snips to distress the bluebird piece and my sentiment.

 Cupcake Box

Stamps: Baroque Motifs
Paper:
Tempting Turquoise, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Ink: Whisper White

Accessories: Big Shot, Big Bold Cupcakes Sizzlet Dies, Paper Crimper, Paper Cutter with Scoring Blade

The box bottom is made by scoring a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock at 4" and 8" on each side.

I then cut into each side like the diagram below so I could fold it up with a flap inside each flap like above.

To make the lid, I cut a 8 1/4 by 8 1/4 square and then scored it along the lines:

I then cut out the black parts, cut on dotted lines, and then folded it to prep it for the final fold.

I used no adhesive. I just folded each side to the middle, and tucked the tabs in each end, so it looked like this:

To make the top decorations, I crimped strips of paper and then used my bone folder to curl them (like we do with curly ribbon),

I hope this allows you to make your own creations!
Happy Stamping!
