Mittens in May

It's cold enough today for them! Well, maybe not me, but someone. Blustery and chilly day today.

Stamps: Chock Full of Cheer
Paper: Pool Party, Midnight Muse, Whisper White
Ink: Midnight Muse, Pool Party
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Bitty Banners Framelits, Printed Brads, Silver Brads

I knew I HAD to preorder this set when I saw these mittens. So very cute! I wanted to use the banners as an accent, so I staggered two of the same size and one of the others. Perfect colors for winter!

Order your own set starting June 1!

Something Old and Something New

But not blue! This is for a swap I am mailing out tomorrow, but I thought you'd like to see what I have been up to besides teaching. May has been crazy and I haven't been stamping as much as I should.

Stamps: Day of Gratitude
Paper: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, More Mustard, Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit
Ink: Raspberry Ripple, Early Espresso
Accessories: Color Spritzer, Big Shot, Bitty Banners Frame-lits, Vintage Trinkets, Antique Brads, Flower Garden Embossing Folder, Adorning Accent Folder, Adorning Accent Edgelits

Did you see the old? Day of Gratitude will be in the catalog that is released June 1! I am so glad! Also old--Newsprint Designer Series Paper is still available! Vintage Trinkets and Antique Brads, too! Early Espresso is still a mainstay and More Mustard is still around, but did you notice the NEW? Raspberry Ripple and Summer Starfruit! Two yummy new In Colors! Also, I used the Bitty Banners Framelits for my banner!

Stampin' Up! has redesigned our ink pad into a foam pad that stamps oh so much smoother! I only have the incolors in the new design, but I cannot wait to buy the rest!

Mambo Wedding

I like clean and crisp cards for a modern feel. When I designed my wedding invitations for a swap I just organized, I knew I wanted to try a clean, crisp card. The flowers on the Bella's Bloom stamp set seemed perfect in repetition.

Of course, a little embossing powder makes it special! I used Versmark on Basic Gray cardstock and embossed with our Melon Mambo Embossing Powder. Fun and easy. I had to use SNAIL to hold my stamp to the block, since Versamark is so sticky it can keep the rubber when using Clear Mount stamps.

The words I did in My Digital Studio. I used a blank page of 8 1/2 by 11, created my layout, saved them as a group, cut and paste multiple copies, and then arranged them equally on my paper. Easy.

I also made a response card that could be tucked back in a small envelope. I stamped in Classic Melon Mambo Ink to add some continuity to my theme.

A Little Birdie told me...

You're wedding date! Well, maybe not yours, but if you used this wedding invite design a birdie would be telling the world!

Stamps: Betsy's Blossoms, Woodgrain
Paper: Basic Black, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White
Ink: Versamark, Summer Starfruit
Accessories: Heat tool, Black Embossing Powder, Double Ribbon Punch, Simply Scored

Slide the birdie up and :

When I saw this Summer Starfruit paper, all I could think of was how good it would go with Black and White. Why? I have no idea. Then I remembered a birchbark idea I had for a wedding card and then ....well, you get the picture.

I liked the idea of the birdie holding the flaps. Somehow they just wouldn't stay. I think Basic Black is thinker than the rest of our paper. Even with my simply scored and my bone folder, they wouldn't flatten!

I took a regular piece of cardstock, cut it in half so I had 4 1/4 by 11". I scored 2 1/8" in from each end. Perfect.

Fancy Wedding Invitations

Happy Mother's Day! To my mom, and all the mom's I know--thank-you! I've been MIA again. School, work, school, work. Oh yeah, they are the same thing in my world! I've been a tad busy and May just seems to get busier and busier. I haven't been stamping, so that's why the blog hiatus. I've finally had time to design and create and now I can blog again!

I've been working on wedding invitation ideas to swap with some stampin' friends. The new Idea Book and Catalog is just around the corner, and, well, I HAD to use my new stuff! One of my favorite perks about being a Demonstrator is that I can preorder certain items. Here is my fanciest:

I used the new Everything Eleanor stamp set, which you can order after June 1.  I stamped in black stazon and then watercolored, using the new In Colors-- Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, and Summer Starfruit. You can see more inside:

Stamps: Everything Eleanor
Paper: Raspberry Ripple, Newsprint Designer Series Paper, Very Vanilla
Ink: Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, and Summer Starfruit
Accessories: My Digital Studio, Big Shot, Labels Framelits, Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon, Simply Scored, Simply Scored Diagonal Plate

I started with an 8 1/2 square piece of newsprint. I used my Diagonal Scoring plate. I scored at  3 3/4" on one side and then 4 3/8" on the next side. I turned it 90 degrees each time. I snipped out the little triangles where the score lines overlap and then I had my envelope. Super cool and easy.

MDS is my best friend when it comes to making invites. I just typed in my info and then printed. The Big Shot did the rest!

Easy and fun!

Happy Stamping!

Shades of May Calender

It's that time to share a new calender with you.

I downloaded this paper way last year and finally am using it for a calender. I always thought of spring with this paper, even the colors are muted regals. The paper came with the bike image and the circle montage, but I added the Barely Banana dotted circle and the Baja Breeze raindrops. I used a font on my computer for the numbers and "May 2012." Did you know that My Digital Studio utilizes any fonts you have stored on your computer? A designer's dream since there are so many FREE, yet COOL fonts out there!

I hope get riding my bike again. I love the feel of feet pushing the pedals, the wind in my face! Maybe seeing this everyday on my desktop screen will motivate me!

Happy May Day!

and I have a summery card to share.

Stamps: Mouthwatering, Petite Pairs
Paper: Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Basic Black
Accessories: Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon, Big Shot, Stripes Texturz Embossing Folder, Brayer

Fun, huh? This one uses the watermelon from Mouthwatering in the Occasions Mini Collection, which ended yesterday, but I know that image can be substituted for punch art or another one. What I really love about this card is the gingham technique. I used the striped Texturz Embossing Folder, my brayer, and Real Red Ink to create the pattern. We'll be doing this at my Stampin' Celebrations class this month and my technique class. As my niece would say, "I like it."
