The Best Things...

in life are stamps! Just kidding. I really believe this quote:

Stamps: Feel Goods
Paper: Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Parker's Patterns
Ink: Cajun Craze
Accessories: Hexagon Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Pinwheel Sizzlet, Labels Collection Framelits, Daffodil Delight Stitched Ribbon, Regals Brads

I wanted to try out the hexagon background I've seen. It's a bit of a challenge cutting all the hexagons, but it does look pretty cool.  I love how easy the Big Shot and the framelits make the curly label. The pinwheels are also easy now that there's a Sizzlit!

Happy Mail

My mailbox was pretty happy in December! Check out the homemade cards I got this year!
From my upline at Thirty-One Gifts--Tara, a handstamped card! Love it!

From Patrice, the gift card along with an MDS CD she thought she'd not use! Thanks! The top card is my mom's Christmas Card this year. She made thank-you's that coordinated!

This detailed card is from my stamping friend Tammy. It's a pop up photo card! Love it!

and finally, from my downline (soon to be again), Cousin Amy--a fitting quilt card!

Masculine, Maybe?

Masculine cards have been requested by my Stampin' Celebrations group, however, I am not always good at them. This one, though, I love:

Stamps: Pretty Petites
Paper: Parker's Patterns Deisgner Series Paper, Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy, Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine, Petite Curly Label Punch, Bird Punch, Big Shot, Tasteful Trim Bigz Die

It all started with the tag. I wanted to have use the little tag that said Happy Birthday along the middle of a stripe. It was too boring, so I needed something in the right corner. The candle on the tag seemed just right. I used the Bird Punch for the flame and a 1" by 2 1/2" piece of Designer Series Paper for the candle.

Mom's Calender 2013-- the Finale!

Here is the final episode of Mom's calender for this year!

STM stands for St. Thomas More, where the Kohls' family spends a great deal of time--the boys at school (until Nathan went to high school this year), where the St. Mary of the Angels Roller Rink is located, and where International Night takes place. Check out Nathan and Tim in their volunteer garb--really a chance to roller skate. Clare, also, loves to skate and has since she could walk practically. There's a (rare) picture of my sister and I.

Mom made Clare a Minnie Mouse dress, which she calls her twirly dress. Nic and Brian were Prince Charming and Snow White. Godparents Steve and Holly were Beauty and the Beast. Nathan and Andrew were Sorcerer Mickey. Tim was Goofy.

We love fall. Check out my mom quilting at her kitchen table. This is how she spends much of her time in the fall. Bubba took the rest of the photos-- "school pictures" of Nathan and Tim, cute ones of Clare and I. All fun and all good.

Finally, December 2011:

I love doing this calender every year--it brings back such great memories and reminds me how amazing my family is and how lucky I am!

Smarty Pants Style

My main need for cards is for my kids at school. At least, I wish I was better at sending them. When I spotted this stamp in the Patterned Occasions Sale-a-bration stamp set, I knew I wanted it:

Stamps: Patterned Occasions
Paper: Midnight Muse, Polka Dot Parade Rich Razzleberry, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Bashful Blue
Ink: Midnight Muse
Accessories: Rich Razzleberry Striped Ribbon, Borders Scoring Plate, Simply Scored, Itty Bitty Buttons, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Little Labels Punch Pack

I tried to make a card for a girl or boy on this one. I think it will work. My boys at school are at the age when cards aren't important, anyway.  The colors make me happy, so that's what really counts, me. I just made a cute little ribbon to go along with the idea of an award!

Can you see the little zigzags I scored on the right side? I used the Simply Scored Tool and the new Borders Scoring Plate. You just place your cardstock where you want the design. You then place a stencil over the top to guide where you go. It's pretty easy and a cute accent.

Sale-a-bration Starter!

Sale-a-bration starts tomorrow, January 22 with Stampin' Up! How cool is that? I post on odd days, so I am posting my favorite cards so far I made with Sale-a-bration products.

If you are a Facebook Fan, you've seen a photo of the process of making this card into a swap. Multiples were a bit tricky, but fun, too.

Stamps: Pretty Petites
Paper: Wisteria Wonder, Basic Gray, Tempting Turquoise, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White
Ink: Lucky Limeade, Tempting Turquoise, Wisteria Wonder
Accessories: Hexagon Embossing Folder, Basic Gray Stitched Ribbon, Petite Curly Punch, Butterfly Punch, Little Labels Punch Set, Heart Punch, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Pearls

I used TWO Sale-a-bration products on this card--the Pretty Petites Stamp Set and the coordinating Petite Curly Label Punch. I thought of all of the cute frame projects I've seen and decided to minaturize it. I added layers of Stampin' Up! punches. They go together so well, that I found the design easy. Punching enough parts for 15 cards, well, a bit too much.

My first Sale-a-bration order goes in tomorrow. You can shop online to receive awards at www.lilyinkpad.stampinup.net

Stampin' Addicts Sale-a-bration Blog Hop

Whoo Hoo! It's already time to hop again! Ready to see some amazing projects with the 2013 Sale-a-bration products? You will. This is one of the stops the Stampin' Addicts  Sale-a-bration Blog Hop. You may have come from my friend Yapha's Blog featuring Patterned Occasions or you may be starting here with me, either way, click on the buttons at the bottom of my post to move onto the next blog in a big ol' circle until you get back here and you will have seen all of our posts!

I was lucky to use the Lemonade Stand Digital Content Disc. Here's a flyer photo of what's included:
You can use these layouts or all the stuff on them anyway you want--stamps, images, punches, embellishments. All that you see there can be used with My Digital Studio 2 OR any other program you wish. Plus, it's FREE with a $50 purchase. How cool is that?

Here's what I did using a photo template:
I added the you and me. I plan to print it using Stampin' Up!'s printing services and framing it for my brother in law. It just hasn't happened yet since I made it Monday night!

Project number 2 is a card from scratch. It's a trifold card and I do plan to print it on my home computer, but I ran out of yellow ink. See how that's a problem with this one?

Finally, my last project needs a frame, but, again, I don't have the right one yet. I plan to put it on my wall at school as inspiration for my girls.
My projects seem a little low-key today. I think that's because it's so easy to create with My Digital Studio that I can get more done in less time!

Want to see the rest of the catalog? Start by checking out what Debra did with the One Big Sale-a-bration Digital Content CD. Enjoy!

Mom's Calendar Part 3

After a long week of teaching, I am pleased to show you more of my mom's calendar. I have other projects to show, but this one tugs at my heart.

I love this Pinwheel Digital Kit. It's so fun and easy to work with. Not as girly as some, but pretty cool. I love the color combo, too. The pics are from a cookout of some sort last summer. My mom made Clare that little outfit--so very cute. The boys look pretty handsome, too. Spending time with them is Bubba and my favorite way to spend a day!

I had an issue when it came to this layout. How do you compress a week long vacation to Florida into one calender page? Lucky me, I found a series of pictures that sums it up--Clare's "Parkely" Minnie ears. My sister's family went to Orlando and I didn't get to go. But, I did get to scrap it!

August uses more new products---the Sale-a-bration Suite. How very fun! The colors are fabulous and the images even cooler! The pictures are a summary of time spent last summer at the Kohls' Cottage. Good times.

Mom's Calender Part 2

Here is part 2 of my mom's calender for this year!

Never seen this before? I used the Lemonade Stand Digital Disc from the upcoming Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration. Check out more projects with this kit this weekend--at the Stampin' Addicts Sale-a-Bration Blog Hop starting Friday!

I used the Hexagon punch and filled it in with the Lemonade Designer Paper. I also added banners that came with the kit. You can see my mom in the bottom left corner with Clare. Also, the picture of my nephews and sister is showing their growth spurts last year. I think if we did it now, they'd tower over her! Can you see the love between Clare and her daddy? He is by far her favorite person, although Unka Bubba is fun when he swings her in the air!

Check out my American Girl Doll niece! My mom made that coat and hat and Clare rocked it for Easter! I used a new layout from MDS2. Notice the rounded corners of all the pics! You can use a template or make any picture rounded! I'm getting too excited. Sorry for all the exclamation points.

Finally, May:

May is my month, so I used paper I love--Summer Smooches. I also added the paper flowers. I just love those. They add such a fun pop. My oldest nephew graduated from St. Thomas More Elementary School (K-8) in May and wore his suit to the graduation mass. He made us all proud by winning awards and doing well in school. He still makes a proud by loving high school and bringing success wherever he goes. He also got his black belt this summer. Bubba took that picture of him breaking a board. Tim is playing his sax at the Spring Concert, although, he secretly prefers the drums. Check out the picture of Nathan and my dad-- do they look related?
