Happy May Day!

When I was a kid, some neighbors and I would make may day baskets and try to deliver them without being seen. It rarely worked. Living in a frugal, crafty house, I made my own baskets out of construction paper and added flowers from the yard. This year, I made much cooler ones:

These were part of the pillow gifts at my April Retreat, but I made some extra to give out at school tomorrow. Each one is unique, although I used the same set of materials. Some have a heart doily around the inside, that I cut up to fit the edges, which was from the Love Blossoms Accessory Pack.

The idea started with the cone bags. I wanted to do something with them, but not Easter-y. May Day popped into my head. However, in Spring, all candy is Easter candy, but I layered it for more color and variety.

The cone started with a 6x6 piece of Designer Series Paper that I wrapped around the bag. I used Tear Away Tape to seal it. I then folded the pointiest end at the top back, so the opening was more circular. I used the jute ribbon (pulled apart) for the ties and tassels. I used Garden in Bloom with Watermelon Wonder for the outline and Blushing Bride for the inside. Mossy Meadow and Old Olive were the greens.

Happy Creativity! Sara
