My Inky Friends Carnival of Colors Blog Hop: Gray Granite

Welcome to the Lily Ink Pad stop of the Carnival of Colors Blog Hop! This month, we are featuring the NEW (and a few returning favorites) colors introduced into the Stampin' Up! Color Families June 1. At each stop, you'll see projects featuring one color. You may have come from Cindy's use of Granny Apple Green or (if backwards looping, from Yapha's Lovely Lipstick). Either way, there are 12 stops in all. Enjoy!

My color is Gray Granite. I chose it because it has a different tone to it than the other grays we have-almost a green, more earthier feeling.

Card #1:

I love this Follow Your Dreams stamp set with it's coordinating thinlits called Chasing your dreams. Many of the artisans I know who make dreamcatchers add layers and a lot of flair, so I tried to do that on this card. The base is  the Gray Granite  dreamcatcher with the feathers added with Night of Navy. The Highland Heather adds a pop of color with the inner dreamcatcher cut with a thinlit. The center is the star stamped in Gray Granite and then punched with a 1/2" Circle Punch and I added a little Metallic Pearl in the center. I repeated my layers to complete the card.

Card #2:

Pretty, right? I used the ink in this card- and it seemed dark. I live in the humidity of Wisconsin, with my stamp room in the basement, so my inks are very juicey. This pad was exceptionally so when I opened it. The tree was stamped in full ink and the tree ring was stamped off once so a that the Thinking of You contrasted. But, wait, there's more!

To open, the card, you have to release the thinking of you part to reveal....

the hidden sentiment of Words are Never Enough on the front. Then, You flip the Very Vanilla Layer up to get to the inside, where a personal message can be written. I love this card. The Gray Granite added a subtle tone, different than a Sahara Sand and different than Smokey Gray. So very perfect with the Mint Macaron, Grapefruit Grove, and Early Espresso.
Finally, I wanted to share some color combinations, so that you'd be able to see how essential Gray Granite is!
You'll have to click on the image to see the names better. I plan to post this on my Facebook Page and Lily Ink Pad Creators Group.

Enjoy the rest of the hop! Click on Next to see Yapha's Lovely Lipstick, a bright, fun color or Click Previous to go backwards to Cindy's Granny Apple Green, a vibrant new green.

Happy Stamping!

  1. The dream catcher card is amazing. I didn't realize that it has a matching die too. This is going on my wish list! I kept coming back to look at it again and all of the detail of the feathers. Love it! Gray Granite goes with everything. The Mint Macaron "thinking of you" sentiment stamped nicely over the wood grain pattern. Beautiful cards.

  2. Your dream catcher is just stunning, Sara! Love the fancy fold card, too—I received one in a swap and really loved the way it comes together.
