A Bit of Summer in the Midst of April Showers

Whew! What a week! My head is still spinning. I had a bit of a minor health problem--exhaustion paired with what I think is allegies, so I haven't posted much this week. I apologize for that, but a girl has got to sleep when she can. For some reason, I ran out of my usual energy this Tuesday and needed a break. After a little Bubba time, quiet time, and back to work time, I am back with a simple, yet beautiful card.

Stamps: Inspired by Nature
Paper: Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Summer Sun
Ink: Old Olive, Summer Sun, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Always Artichoke 1/4 inch Grosgrain Ribbon, Paper Crimper, Sponge Daubers

Why so simple? Sometime simple is better. Plus, two of my cards at my latest Stamp-a-stack were more complex, so I needed some balance. I got this idea from a swap at Regionals. There is no name on the one I CASED that I can locate or I'd give credit to the designer. I love how quick it was to put together, how easy to mail, and how bright it makes me feel.

I used the ink pouncing technique--use sponge daubers in the ink pad, then apply by pouncing onto the stamp. Huff to remoisten any dried ink, and stamp! The Huffing helps the ink get wet, so must be done after inking, not before. It may be strange that I make this point, but I learned specificity is needed!

The other cool thing I learned is to cut my Very Vanilla piece 5 3/4 inches, so when crimped, it fit on the card front! Really, 5 5/8 would be better, but who likes to measure eighths? Not me. Not on a ga-gillion pieces in preparation for a Stamp-a-Stack!

Have a Happy Day!

  1. I love the crimped effect on your flower panel... I'll have to remember this! I'm glad to see that you are feeling better. I don't suffer allergies, but my DH does and it always wipes him out. Take care of yourself - I'm sending "get well wishes" your way, and post when you can! :)

  2. Love your card, this is one of my favortie sets!

Thanks for commenting! I love feedback!
