Celebrate Summer!

That's what I've been doing--celebrating the fact that my summer vacation started. I don't really understand how during the school year, I can be so productive in a day and once vacation starts, I get 1/3 of my usual stuff accomplished. I have been busy-stamping and planning, though! Well, around the guys, cleaning, sleeping, lawn work, and reading.

Back to the celebrating....Happy Summer! As Don told me today (as he has previewed for the last week), today is the first day of summer-the longest day and shortest night of the year. To celebrate, I wanted ice cream! But, I am trying to not eat sweets, so I settled for making a card using ice cream!

Stamps: Sweet Celebrations (retiring June 30)
Paper: Rainbow Sherbet Designer Series Paper, Tempting Turquoise, Gable Green, Green Galore, Whisper White
Ink: Green Galore, Gable Green, Tempting Turquoise
Accessories: Paper Snips, 1 1/4 circle punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, Big Shot, Stampin' Up! Backgrounds I Texturz pads, silicone pad, plastic mat, paper cutter, Scallop Circle Punch

You can't really tell, but I made the ice cream cone by cutting a triangle with my paper cutter and then running it through the Big Shot using the Texturz plates. I choose to use this sentiment, which says" Celebrate today" if you can't tell, because I just realized Sweet Celebrations was on the Last Chance List and wanted to give it one last hurrah at my Last Chance Stamp Camp! Also, this card is more boyish-than girly, because I have nephews to send it to rather than nieces.

How did I make the cones? Well, I had three scallop punched pieces and my cone:

Next, I used my paper snips to cut the top of the ice cream scoop:

I traced it to make it easier to see. Each one was unique.

Happy ice cream eating and summer!
