A Beary Happy Birthday Gift Card Holder

Today is my brother-in-law's birthday and I am at my sisters (and his) house for the weekend. (Friday night was Girls Stampin' Time). This morning my nephew Tim and I created this card for Brian's birthday:

Stamps: Under the Stars
Paper: Real Red, Brilliant Blue, Taken with Teal, Close to Cocoa
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Basic Black
Accessories: 12" Paper Cutter with Scoring Blade, Word Window Punch

This is a gift card holder- but my camera didn't take good pictures, and it's in his posession, so here are some poor pictures of the inside:
I'm off to babysit Clare while they go out to dinner!~

Cute Stamper in the Making

Last Saturday, at my Birthday Bash Stamp Camp, my niece Clare showed up (with her mom and aunt from the other side). Finally! Her mom has missed too many stamp camps due to Clare's impending arrival and subsequent arrival! Her outfit was Auntie Sara approved as as my sister said, looked like someone at Stampin' Up! designed it:

That just shows how in style Stampin' Up! is! One of our cards matched her outfit:

Sorry for the blurryness. Clare never stops moving when given the chance and my iphone camera just didn't appreciate her activity level.

I also had just made her a button for a headband using the Fancy Flower folds Big Shot Die:

Perfect timing to have a new baby in the family!

Thanks for putting up with my oohhhing and ahhhing!

Island Party Mon!

I love the idea of sitting on a tropical veranda sipping a drink, but yet, never really, had the opportunity, by choice. The colors in Stampin' Up! Island Oasis Paper were irresistible: Old Olive, So Saffron, Rose Red, Tempting Turquoise, and Pumpkin Pie. At my club and workshops this month, we're making this:

Stamps: Tropical Party
Paper: Island Oasis, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: Pumpkin Pie Corduroy Button, Pumpkin Pie Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, 1 3/4 Circle Punch, Modern Label Punch, Silver Brads, Piercing Tool, Matte, 12" Paper Cutter with Scoring Blade

This gets even better:

The inside is perfect for cash, check, or gift card!

How'd I do it? I cut a piece of Tempting Turquoise cardstock 8 1/2 by 6". Then, I scored at 3" and 6". I used my circle punch to get the peep hole for the present!

Fun, Fun, fun!

I Stink You're Sweet

Pun fun is one of my favorite sets. As I was designing this card for a Say Goodbye to Colors Swap, I knew I wanted to use Brilliant Blue and Green Galore, one of my favorite combos for kids. What better set than Pun Fun for a kid?

Stamps: Pun Fun
Paper: Brilliant Blue, Yo-You Yellow, Green Galore, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black, Green Galore Marker, Yo-Yo Yellow Marker
Accessories: Bold Bright Brads, Scallop Edge Punch, 5 Petal Flower Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Paper Piercing Tool, Matte Pack, Big Shot, Texturz Impressions Plate

I am not usually an off-setter in my designs, but the paper fell that way, and I liked it. For this card, I embossed the Brilliant Blue background with the flower that matched the flower in the little guy's hand. I also tried to recreate the flower with the 5 petal punch--at least a representation!

A Spotlight on Style

Beauty comes quietly sometimes, like a sunset or a quiet, dewey morning, which is how I think of this card:

Stamps: Elements of Style
Paper: Lovely Lilac, Kraft, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede, Lovely Lilac, So Saffron, Mellow Moss
Accessories: Aquapainter, Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, 1 1/4 Circle Punch, 1 3/8 Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Horizontal Slot Punch, Designer Label Punch, Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots

Spotlighting is the name of this technique. I used my aquapainter and ink pads to watercolor the flowers and then punched out the image. Finally, I added a layer made with the 1 3/8 " Circle Punch and then matched the design. For the tag, I punched out the For You part and added it to the Designer Label Punch which I also punched two ribbon holes for the Horizontal Slot Punch. I used many mini glue dots to adhere my ribbon in the fluffy way.

I shared this card at the Stampin' Addicts Milwaukee Regional Dinner Swap, so a select group of stampers have this card!

A Tropical Good-bye

I love bright colors. I am much better with the Bold Brights Family then most--it's where I started buying inks. With the new Color Renovation-some of my best brights will be moving on. So, in honor of the brights:

Stamps: Eastern Blooms, On Your Birthday
Paper: Pixie Pink, Green Galore, Yo-Yo Yellow, Whisper White
Ink: Pixie Pink, Green Galore, Yo-Yo Yellow (Markers)
Accessories: Big Shot, Squared Lattice Textured Embossing Folder, Crystal Effects, Microbeads, Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Paper Crimper, 1 3/4 Circle Punch, Dimensionals

This picture isn't that great as the centers of the flowers have Crystal Effects holding Microbeads in place to add a little sparkle to this bright card. Also, the Yo-Yo Yellow strip was crimped to add more texture. The recipient of this card will have to smile when opening it! Check out that background-- the Squared Lattice folder from the Summer Mini Catalog transforms cardstock into a new form of paper! You have to see it in person!

We will be making this card at my Birthday Bash Stamp Camp, May 15th 10 am or 2 pm. Email me at to register!

A Happy Hummingbird

Spring had sprung and is now covered in snow. With faith it will reappear again, I am posting a card I made to swap at the Stampin' Addicts (a great, positive website all about Stampin' Up!) Dinner for the Milwaukee Regional Event. Whew! That was a mouthful!

Stamps: Elements of Style
Paper: Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Basic Black
Accessories: Big Shot, Scallop Circles #2 Bigz Die, Paper Crimper, Pretties Kit, 5 petal punch, Scallop Edge Punch, Paper Piercing Tool, Matte Template

I love the monochromatic look, so I stuck with the neutrals of black and white and the Bermuda Bay for fun! I also didn't have enough Designer Series Paper so I made my own by stamping on Whisper White and then crimping it for added texture!

This was a fun card to make.

Happy Stamping!

Watercolored Elements of Style

My workshops this month started with my Green Bay Stamp, Scrapbook, and Crafters Club. Basically, it's a group of women who started out scrapbooking and stamping and now includes friends who just want to have a nice Friday night catching up. I bought subs and chips for dinner and we made two projects. Oh yeah, did I mention playing with my niece Clare? Really, little else got done as she was so darn cute.

Here is one card we did make:

Stamps: Elements of Style
Paper: Brocade Blue, Very Vanilla, Sage Shadow
Ink: Ballet Blue Marker, Sage Shadow  Marker, Apricot Appeal Marker
Accessories: Aquapainter, Paper Snips, Scallop Oval Punch, Oval Punch, Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon

I always have too many ideas roaming around in my head for projects, so I consulted my mom who wanted to make the father's day tree card I showed last week. Since that was part of an event she couldn't attend (darn day job), I decided to use the technique- Blurred Watercolor Vision. We markered on the stamp, huffed, stamped, and then used aquapainters to spread the ink from the lines to the centers of the images. So fun!

Isn't that satin ribbon amazing? Want some to use, but don't want to buy in bulk? Check back tomorrow to see how you can participate in my ribbon share!

Happy Stamping!
