Lily Ink Pad's Best of 2013

As 2013 comes to a close, I want to celebrate the best of my designs this year! So....drumrolll...... Click on the picture or title for the original blog post.

Number 10: A Day All About You
I love the bright colors and layers on this card!

Number 9: Birthday Candle

I felt pretty creative with this one. I needed a focal point, but also wanted the petite labels to be the focus. Then, a candle idea hit me. I love those moments.

Number 8: A Baby Bib

As soon as I saw those Chalk Talk framelits, I knew that I wanted to make a bib card!

Number 7: Lily Ink Pad Carved Stamp

Designing my own stamp was so very fun and I must use it more!

Number 6:  A Present and Card Together!

I love this card because I love the Ronald McDonald House Charities Stamp Set and I love how homemade cards can add some fun to an already special day!

Number 5: In Color Showcase

I had so much fun playing with my new catalog order to create this sampler!

Number 4: Get Well Soon Flip Flop Card

Again, I just love the In Colors and the Tag It! stamp set.

Number 3: Sweater Weather Quilt

I love the patterns in quilting, but have no patience. This is the best of both worlds.

Number 2: Lucky Limeade Leapers

This was the 2012-2013 Idea Book and Catalog's Ronald McDonald House Charities Stamp Set called Moving Forward. I just love these little frogs!

and FINALLY, My favorite project of 2013 is....

I worked so hard on it and it just makes me smile every time I see it!

I hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane with me!

Happy New Year!

Crisp Cantelope Butterflies

or Flutterbys as my niece sometimes says. I like the color Crisp Cantelope, but find I haven't used it much this fall, so now, I did!

Stamps: Loving Thoughts
Paper: Crisp Cantaloupe, Whisper White, In Color Designer Series Paper Stack, Core'dinations Neutrals Pack
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe
Accessories: Big Shot, Modern Label Punch, Artisan Label Punch, Pretty Print Textured Embossinf Folder (132175), Bitty Butterfly Punch, Sanding Block

  • Use the Big Shot and the embossing folder on the large Coredinations Cardstock. Then rub the sanding block over the top.
  • Punch the Butterflies first. Then, the Artisan Label punch is easier to center over the image.
  • Use half-pieces of dimenionals behind the white punched out butterfly parts and the Designer Series Paper as well as later on the back of your card front.
  • Stamp the sentiment of your choice on the white strip. Then, punch the hole for it. If you choose a longer sentiment, you can repeat punch to make a larger window.
  • Practice your placement to get the sentiment to show just right. Then add the top.
The background embossing folder is featured in the Holiday Catalog. Get it before Jan 3rd!

Cupcakes in Style

I love office supplies. Folders, pens, pencils, markers, paper clips. I could spend hours in an office supply store. I love having things color coded and organized at school. Put things in a binder and I am a happy camper! When I first saw Patty Bennet's file folder cards, I knew I must make one. Here is my version:
and the inside:

Isn't it fun?

Stamps: Create a Cupcake
Paper: In Color Designer Series Paper Stack, Whisper White, Baked Brown Sugar,
Ink: Strawberry Slush, Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding
Accessories: Envelope Punch Board, Pear Pizzazz Chevron Ribbon, Cupcake Builder Punch, 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Stampin' Trimmer

Here's some tips:
  • Adhere  Pistachio Pudding Designer Series paper on the front and the Baked Brown Sugar Designer Series Paper on the inside.
  • Place  cardstock so the right side (fold is on the bottom) is at 3” on the punch board. Push down on the center button.
  • Line up right edge in center of that punch and punch down to get the tab to appear.
  • Place the Baked Brown Sugar side of your card on the punch board with the right side at 2 ½ “ and again on the left edge.
  •  Use the paper trimmer to trim off the part of the tab you don’t want anymore. The punch on the opposite side of the board is the corner rounder punch. Just slide it in an punch each corner.

Or, you could watch Patty Bennett's Video Tutorial.  That's what I did!

Merry Christmas!

from my family to yours! We celebrated Mattson Christmas last night and fun was had by all. My dad loved the "I'm a lumberjack, and I'm ok T-shirt." My niece went bananas for her cowboy boots and a pink vacuum. My nephews tried to trick Bubba by wrapping his present in Green Bay Packer Duct Tape, not knowing that I had wrapped their money gift in layers of bubble wrap and tape! My mom got her new magnetic plate from my dad (wrapped by me). He asked her, "What is that?" when she opened it! My sister loved her new sparklies and her gifts from her kids. Don, well, he loves everything, but the beer, little debbie snacks, and fast food gift cards were a hit, as well as the Bears fleece my mom sewed.  Me? I enjoy every minute of being with my family and now feel ready to face what comes our way this next year! The gifts are secondary, but getting coffee and a jar decorated in Stampin' Up! rub-ons top the list! Oh yeah, and the fleece sweater my mom sewed for me. That was pretty cool, too!

Now, back to the good stuff:

I made the envelopes gift card sized so I could add gift cards as needed!

Stamps: Festive Flurry
Paper: Winter Frost Paper Stack, Winter Frost Designer Series Paper, Smokey Slate, Island Indigo, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Island Indigo
Accessories: Envelope Punch Board, Big Shot, Festive Flurry Framelits, Frosted Finishes Embellishments, Snow Flurry Embossing Folder

I just made the card base with a die cut and then added the envelope. I had to add a strip of paper to make the paper stack pieces 5 x 5 square so the envelopes could be made. This little bit of problem solving, added a little extra design element to the card. I love the little stripe of alternating paper!

I think my nephews would have preferred that I put gift cards in these instead of wrapping up the money in layers of tape!

It's certainly been frosty around here lately. The lower the temperatures, the fluffier the snow, so it's hard to make a snowman, so here's one that's pretty cute (and I don't have to go outside to make it).

Pretty cute, huh? I had the envelope liner framelit sitting on my craft desk and realized the top looked like a hat. I decided to make it into a snowman. I thought I was so very cool and then the next day, saw a few others on my Pinterest feed. Great minds think alike!

Stamps: none
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Blushing Bride, Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper, Red Glimmer Paper, Gumball Green
Ink: none
Accessories: Basic Black Marker, Big Shot, Envelope Liner Framelits, 3/4" Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Christmas Punch Pack, sticky sheets, Pennant Punch

  • Cut out the hat separately from the Snowman base.
  • Put the fold of the card base right inside the framelit so you don't cut it off.
  • To make the Poinsettia, I punched 6 ornaments and adhered them in a circle on a sticky sheet.

I hate wrapping presents, but I love giving gifts. The solution-- a gift bag created by me! I shared these gift bags (which I made in two hours on a Saturday night) with the girls at the Stamping Day Away to take their loot home.

Hard to see them? Here are some close-ups.

Stamps: Festive Flurry
Paper: Winter Frost, Pool Party, Whisper White, Smokey Slate, Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink: Silver Encore Ink, Smokey Slate, Island Indigo, Coastal Cabana
Accessories: Silver 1/8" Trim, Stampin' Trimmer, Bow Die, Frosted Finishes Embellishments, Festive Flurries Framelits, Big Shot

Happy December 1!

I can't believe, as usual, that it's December starting today. I'm pretty sure that half of my lesson plans have December starting tomorrow. Stampin' Up! has some great deals coming up tomorrow, Cyber Monday. Please check out my website at www.lilyinkpad.stampinup.net to see what's on sale. You can place an online order and have it shipped directly to you. My rewards program still applies. I'll send you a note with your Lily Ink Pad Stamp Card in the mail.

Although, we are in Christmas mode, crafters have to be thinking around the corner. Valentine's Day is coming up, so Stampin' Up! has a special just for December!

Also, today is the final Best of Stamp Set release with the Best of Sale-a-bration!

Happy Shopping!
