I don't have a lot to show you, but wanted to give you recipes for my projects and give a few tips. We try to keep our blog hop posts short and visual. Today, you can have all the detail!
Stamps: Be the Star (135731wood, 135734 clear)
Paper: Retro Designer Series Paper (), Smokey Slate
Ink: Basic Gray
Accessories: Stars Framelits Dies (133723), 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon, Beach House Washi Tape, Pool Party Cotton Ribbon, Itty Bitty Accents Star Punch, Silver Sparkle Dazzling Details
I wanted the lines of the paper to make the star seem like a shooting star. I then realized that the paper was straight vertical. I had to cut a 4 x 5 1/2 piece on a diagonal to get the lines to travel diagonally. A small, but important part of the card construction. On the right card, I went crazy. It was as if I couldn't add enough stuff to the card and then I started hating it. So, I made the one on the left, a simpler, cleaner version. Now, I like them both.
I got the sketch from Artful Stamper, a New Zealand Demonstrator who has great projects on her blog: www.papertreecrafts.blogspot.co.nz.
I wanted to use a variety of the Retro Designer Series Paper to show how diverse the paper choices were and how they complement each other. The hexagons remind me of an old timey quilt. I am always amazed by how Stampin' Up!'s papers can be used with such diversity in style.
