Making Memories Journal Book

I've been on a "take care of me" journey last year. It started wayyy before the fire in July, as a part of my day job. I've been learning about how trauma informed care practices can improve my teaching and student learning. Within that, I've found my soft side or the blue side if you like the True Colors Personality Test. Our health coach at my school district challenged us to a Good Times Journal to celebrate gratitude as a way of taking care of ourselves. She made a little copy paper stapled book, but I decided to amp it up with my Project Life and make it into a happy journal-not a sappy Dear Diary journal and not a 365 scrapbook, but a book just for me.

I started by building a cover. I forgot to order the 6x8 Project Life Book on my last order, so I didn't have one to use or I would have. Instead, I cut some chipboard from the Glimmer Paper I had in my stash to 6 1/2 x 8 1/2. I used Tear and Tape Adhesive on Sale-a-Bration Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper (which is only a Sale-a-bration item until Feb 15).

I used a sanding block to sand the edges of the book and my crop-a-dile to punch holes to hold the Project Life Variety Pack 6" x 8" Photo Pocket Pages. For the front cover, I decided to go with a Project Life feel with my card choices.

I added accents using the Making Memories Accessory Kit. I stamped the little flowers in Basic Black on the bottom card and the Love in the Heart using the coordinating stamp set.

I then filled the pages up with cards that worked together, leaving the cards blank. Here are some examples:

I realized that If I didn't have a base, I wouldn't find this functional. I wanted this to be something I started and used, so I knew once school started again, I'd need to have a good start.
Next, I decided to fill some pages with pictures of things I love to make me smile every day.

I added the daily journal/3 things around some of the pictures.

I printed the pictures on my home printer on photo paper.

I love these pages as they are from our summer vacation, post-fire. I used pink and it works here because I could balance it with Pool Party.

These two pages show the pictures, plus the journaling, plus the combination of the Sale-a-bration Project Life Specialty Cards. The end result- pretty cool. At least to me.
