My Inky Friends Design Challenge #7: Not Old, Retro

When Rhonda picked out this sketch, I thought, "Cool!" I love that square. Then, I was totally overwhelmed by all my options and had a tough time designing. My desk was covered in sets, papers, and inks! But this is the result of my creative process:

I love this card! It's a creation that I am amazed I designed. All me. So cool. That's the beauty of Stampin' Up!'s catalogs. The original inspiration is nothing like what I created, but the elements of the sketch are still there. Plus, the night this magic happened, I got a bit of creative time, which is healing.

The background is a piece of the Graceful Glass Designer Series Vellum. I used my Bermuda Bay Light and Dark and my Pineapple Punch Blends to color the vellum, leaving some white space. When placed on the Coastal Cabana background, the Pineapple Punch looks more like Lemon Lime Twist, so I used Lemon Lime Twist as part of my swirls. The other swirl is Coastal Cabana and I cut them using the Swirly Scribbles Thinlit dies. The stamp set is called Free Cake and I love it's humor. My Stampin' Celebrations group has been asking for funny adult cards and I think this fits the bill.

My final touch was adding the Twinkle Adhesive-Backed Sequins to the make a vertical rectangular element. They really reflect light and complete the card.

Here is the My Inky Friends sketch challenge.

Join us! We'd love to see what this challenge inspires you to make!

Happy Stamping! Sara

Forever and Always Diagonal Fold Card

I have been loving fun folds lately and when I saw this one, I was shocked I hadn't thought of it before!

So the design is cool, but watch what happens when you open it:

It's a half sheet of cardstock cut on the diagonal! The trick is to score at 4 1/4 and 5 1/2 for easy folding. How fun!

I used the Share What You Love Designer Series Paper, which is so awesome, it coordinates with every single piece within the collection, so I could use any papers and my cards were awesome! The flower is from the In Every Season set, which has a Lily of the Valley! However, in this one, I used the daisy/coneflower/gerbera one.  I colored with aquapainters and my ink pads to match the flowers on the Designer Series Paper. The labels are from the Stitched Labels Framelit Dies. I just layered them up! I also used my new Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set. There are so many options, it was hard to decide which to use:

Any of these would have been cool.

Happy Stamping!

Share What You Love

With all the new Designer Series Papers in the new Annual Catalog, I am always searching for cool ways to highlight it. This card is a great way to show the coordination within a pack.

Beautiful! I love the bright colors and the combination of Rich Razzleberry, Grapefruit Grove, Mint Macaron, and Tranquil Tide.  Plus, those pearlized doilies! Such a fun accent to play around with.

Here's what it looks like when opened.

I love the right triangles, although it was tricky sometimes to figure out which way to cut. It took a lot of envisioning what the card needed!

Here is the template I followed :

It looks super complicated, but really isn't. You score the base into three panels and then score those two panels diagonally.

I love fun folds and I adore this Designer Series Paper!

Happy Stamping!

My Inky Friends Fabulous at 30 Blog Hop: Enjoy Life

Welcome to the My Inky Friends "Fabulous at 30" Blog Hop featuring projects using new products from the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog released June 1. Each of the My Inky Friends Design Team members in this hop have selected a different stamp set to feature. You may have come from Tanya's Tropical Chic projects, or if hopping backwards, Cindy's  Accented Blooms. Either way, you've made it to my post featuring Enjoy Life.

This stamp set was designed by my upline, Connie Fitzgerald as part of her earning $1,000,000 lifetime sales with Stampin' Up! She created this set based on her life philosophy and her children. How cool. Plus, the font looks like her handwriting!

Here are my projects:

I used the same technique on all, because I just loved the color combination I used: Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, Costal Cabana, and Granny Apple Green. All new colors this year! The black ink is also in Stazon, our go to Black Ink.

Here's a close up:

The saying says, "When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive, to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love."

I love biking, so this card is close to my heart To do the background, I used markers to color on a clear block and then spritzed with water. I then just "stamped" that on my paper. I didn't use a lot of water and I like the rough look of it.

and then I made a little 3x3 card to tuck into a bag of a loved one when they travel. Those flowers and butterflies are so pretty

That's all I have today! Click Next to go see Cindy's Accented Blooms projects or Previous to see Tanya's Tropical Chic projects. Happy Hopping!
